Coudelaria de Alter is the oldest and most remarkable Portuguese stud farm, founded in 1748 by King João V. It is located in the Herdade da Tapada do Arneiro, an entirely walled estate, with an area of ​​approximately 800 hectares, with a remarkable patrimony of great scenic, floristic and faunistic value, in the municipality of Alter do Chão. The REVIVE Program integrates part of the Alter do Chão Coudelaria building so that, through an international public tender, its tourist exploitation can be made in a sustainable way and anchored in the equestrian theme, requalifying this heritage. The area around the central courtyard is the main nucleus of the concession, integrating the current “Casa de Campo”, the “Old Barn”, the building of the administrative services, the Museum and Coffee Shop. The dealer may also choose to add other built-up areas (optional): Enoteca, Lagar, Falcoaria and Pigpens. In the surrounding stables you can admire the grandeur and beauty of the Lusitano horse, Alter Real iron, which allows the development of the Equestrian Art.
