Description
The College of São Fiel, in Louriçal do Campo, is one of the real estate integrated in the REVIVE Program, where, through an international public tender, it is proposed to install a Tourist Resort, a Local Accommodation Establishment or another Tourism Vocation Project.
This establishment stands out as one of the most relevant architectural works in that region of Beira Baixa, due to its imposing structures, but also by the Jesuit presence in Portugal throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, for being part of the history of teaching and science in Portugal (the Nobel Prize in medicine Egas Moniz completed secondary education in this college).
The College of São Fiel, which has not been used since 2003, was the target of a devastating fire that affected the Central region in August 2017. This contest seeks not only to boost local tourism and preserve heritage but also to boost the economic recovery of this area. Of the building that survived the fire, there is a compulsory recovery of the main building, serração, cowshed e loft.
